Allergies

Allergies, as their name suggests are caused by allergens such as animal fur, mould spores, dust and/or pollen, top name a few. Salt therapy can help with the symptoms of allergies.

  • Salt's anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, mucolytic effects help target symptoms of allergies and reducing the impact on the patient

  • By reducing inflammation, salt helps the patient to breathe more easily and to reduce the discomfort of swelling (e.g. inflamed and/or swollen sinuses)

  • Salt helps to lower IgE levels, which helps the patient build up their natural resistance to allergies

Asthma

Due to salt's anti-inflammatory and mucolytic (mucus loosening) properties, it has been shown to be effective at treating asthma symptoms.

  • Salt helps to expand the airways by reducing inflammation, thus making it easier for a patient to breath more easily.

  • Due to the mucolytics effects, the lungs and airways are able to be cleared of stubborn phlegm and mucus

  • Salt's calming affect helps the patient relax, become less tense and be able to breathe more comfortably

  • Reduce dependency on steroid inhalers and reduce hospital admissions for asthma outbreaks

Colds & Flu

Colds and Flu are usually the result of a viral infection (e.g. of the nasal tract or sinuses); salt can help alleviate and vastly reduce symptoms.

  • Salt helps to kill bacteria and its anti-pathogenic effects assist with eradicating the viruses that are often responsible for colds.

  • The mucolytics effects of Halotherapy help loosen and clear the nasal passages and throat, allowing the patient to be less congested.

  • Salt's anti-inflammatory affects help sooth the patient by reducing the symptoms of colds, including blocked noses, sore throats and coughs

  • By lowering IgE levels (immune system sensitivity), salt therapy is able to help the patient build their natural defences against cold viruses

COPD, Acute Bronchitis and Emphysema

  • Reduce dependency on steroid creams and antibiotics and skin flare-ups

Hay Fever

Hay fever is one of the most common allergies affecting people. It can cause a lot of discomfort through running nose, watery/itchy eyes, coughs and blocked sinuses. Salt therapy can effectively help reduce these symptoms.
